concept of globalization:

process by which the increased communication and interdependence among countries around the world unites markets, societies and cultures, through a series of social, economic and policy that give a global communications with the outside world.

There are three main aspects of this globalization process:


- Globalization means

- Globalization content

- Globalization property

· THE GLOBALIZATION OF MEDIA



1. Proliferation of media through new technologies:


- Traditionally, many countries had only their own local communication systems


- 80 Years: growth of the communication cable and satellite


- Years 90: shift to digital broadcasting (Internet)


2. Shared Technologies:


less developed countries are assuming the technologies that have developed other


· content globalization



1. Content shared globally:


- News

- Series / Movies
- Music


2. Setting the global agenda:

- appear the "global totemic festival" World Cup, Olympic Games, the funeral of Lady Di, etc.


- Global coverage of some news: war, space probes, acts of terrorism, natural disasters.

3. In general similar criteria to consider a news content or not.


4. Development of an international style (Barker):


- high production values: luxurious and expensive.

- Scenarios pleasing to the eye: California beaches and landscapes of Australia, etc.

- more action than the traditional series.

- A Hollywood-style narrative type.

- Elements of melodrama and realism.

1. Declining public TV to a TV commercial:

In Europe traditionally à public funding of radio and TV

currently à market-driven programs (Advertising centered) / obsolescence of the concept of public service TV
